Paris-based Technip received a project to decommission the brownfield development, and install new subsea equipment, for a floating production system in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, the company said June 10.
The floating production system is in the Mississippi Canyon location in about 2,000m of water.
Chevron North America Exploration and Production Co., a division of Chevron USA Inc., gave Technip the contract, which includes project management and engineering, and decommissioning manifold, jumpers, flying leads and other equipment.
Technip will also make and install 8.8km of steel lazy wave riser, flowline and pipeline end terminations, and 8.8km of gas lift umbilical, replacement manifold and hardware. Manifold foundation and seven jumpers will also be made and installed.
Technip’s Houston-based operating center will perform project management. The infield flowline and riser will be welded at the spoolbase in Mobile, Ala. The offshore installation by Technip vessels is scheduled for the second half of 2016. The Deep Blue ultradeepwater pipelay and subsea construction vessel will install the steel lazy wave riser, flowline and gas lift umbilical. The Global 1200 will install the manifold and foundation.
Precommissioning and testing will be carried out.
