Roxi Petroleum’s Well 143 at its flagship asset BNG in Kazakhstan has flowed oil strongly since the start of 2016 and continues to flow well, the company said in a news release Jan. 13.
The average daily flow rates were 815 bbl/d with a 7-mm choke size; 675 bbl/d with a 5-mm choke and 520 bbl/d, 3-mm choke, the release said.
The well, which is located north of the South Yelemes Field at BNG, was drilled to a total depth of the well is 2,750 m (9,022 ft)
Roxi previously reported two intervals at 2,693 m (8,835 ft) and 1,974 m (6,476 ft) were tested with good oil shows encountered. The company described the oil recovered as high quality, with an oil density of 39 degrees API.
Five additional intervals were perforated—all of which were in the Jurassic, the release said.
The company also updated the status of its Deep Wells.
Deep Well 801, which was drilled to a depth of 5,050 m (16,568 ft), has suffered from blockages caused by excess drilling fluids. Following a prolonged wash using less dense mud injected under pressure, intended to lessen the density of the drilling fluids and ease their recovery, the well has flowed intermittently over a period of 2 days, Roxi said. The well, which is now closed to allow the removal of drill-pipes, is next expected to be placed on test within the next few weeks.
At Deep Well A5, which was drilled to a depth of 4,442 m (14,573 ft), unrecovered drilling fluids blocked the well during preparation for testing. However, for a brief period of up to two hours at a time, the well flowed oil at the rate of 2,000 bbl/d before becoming blocked by the accumulation of unrecovered heavy drilling fluids becoming set in the oil pipe, Roxi said. The next phase of cleaning up this well is expected to commence towards the end of January 2016 with the delivery of new coil tubing equipment to remove the excess drilling fluids previously reported. In the meantime the well is periodically opened to bleed off excess drilling fluids.
Deep Well A6 reached a depth of 3,140 m (10,302 ft) without incident and the well remains on target to reach total depth at the end of February 2016, Roxi said in the news release.
