Paris-based geoscience company CGG said May 13 that there is now a western extension of the Horda BroadSeis-BroadSource 3-D multiclient program in the Northern Viking Graben area, in the Northern North Sea offshore Norway and the U.K.
The Tampen extension will add 17,000 sq km of data to the Horda survey program begun in 2014.
The Tampen survey will cover a mature, high-potential area encompassing Statfjord, Gullfaks, Snorre and Osberg fields in Norway and several fields in the UK. The survey extension is expected to be completed in 2016.
CGG will have 35,000 sq km of contiguous, uniform broadband seismic data in the area at the end of the season, the company added.
The overall Horda survey handles biostratigraphy, sedimentology and geochemistry data, potential fields data and satellite hydrocarbon seep imagery. It has a high-quality well database and also handles seismic reservoir characterization.
CGG is using fast-track data and full imaging from the 2014 survey of 8,500 sq km in the initial Horda survey. The final data for this area, the fast-track data for the full Horda survey and this season’s section of the Tampen survey will be available in 2015’s fourth quarter.
