Italy's Snam will move a floating LNG terminal from the Tuscan port of Piombino to an offshore site in the northern region of Liguria, the state-appointed commissioner for the terminal Eugenio Giani said.
The vessel, which has an annual capacity of 5 Bcm of gas, is part of the plan masterminded by the Italian government to reduce dependence from Russian gas.
In order to win the resistance of local administrations in Tuscany, Snam said last year it would move the terminal away from Piombino in three years.
