Talisman Energy Inc. has retained RBC Rundle to sell certain gas properties in west-central Alberta.

The package includes high working interest (63% average) in mostly operated assets covering 120,320 non-unit acres in the Whitecourt area, approximately 100 kilometers northwest of Edmonton. Production is from mostly liquids rich gas. Of the total acreage, 63% (76,259 acres) is company acres, 25% (30,301) is partner acres and 12% (13,760) is under royalty. The properties feature extensive low-risk Gething formation development potential.

Production is more than 4,900 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Proved reserves are 29.6 million barrels of oil equivalent (13.3 million proved developed producing) and proved and probable reserves are 37.78 million barrels equivalent.

Upside includes horizontal development opportunities in the Notikewin and Bluesky gas plays. The properties feature extensive operated and nonoperated gas-gathering and processing infrastructure in place.
