GeoMet Inc. has retained Merrill Lynch & Co. to seek strategic alternatives for the company, including a possible sale of all assets. GeoMet's primary assets are coalbedmethane operations in the Cahaba Basin in Alabama and the Central Appalachian Basin in West Virginia and Virginia. The company also has coalbed-methane rights in Alabama, British Columbia, Colorado, Louisiana, Virginia and West Virginia.
