Purchased WI in 22 operated, 76 nonoperated producing wells in northern LA.

Privately held, Houston-based WildHorse Resources LLC has purchased interests in certain producing wells in northern Louisiana from Midland, Texas-based E&P company Clayton Williams Energy Inc. (Nasdaq: CWEI) for $77 million.

The acquired assets include 22 operated and 76 nonoperated producing wells comprising all of Clayton's proved reserves in northern Louisiana. The transaction did not include the company's southern Louisiana assets.

WildHorse recently acquired a 96% interest in Terryville Field, which targets Cotton Valley production and the Grey sand and Bossier zones, in Lincoln and Claiborne parishes, Louisiana, from Petrohawk Energy Corp. (NYSE: HK) for $320 million.

In a separate deal, Clayton recently bought the remaining undivided 14% working interest in 36 Wolfberry wells in Andrews County, Texas, from a group of private investors for $9.75 million, increasing the company's working interest to 100%. Clayton holds approximately 5,700 gross acres in the Wolfberry trend.

Clayton will use proceeds to pay debt related to a $300 million revolving credit facility, reducing the outstanding balance to approximately $127 million.

The effective date is April 1.
