Elf Petroleum Nigeria Ltd., a Nigerian subsidiary of Total SA, Paris, (NYSE: TOT; London: TTA; Paris: FP) has acquired a 36% interest in deep offshore oil-prospecting lease (OPL) 247 offshore Nigeria for an undisclosed price. OPL 247 is 150 kilometers offshore southeastern Nigeria and is operated by Chevron. It is near the main deep offshore operations being developed by Total and extends Total's acreage where it operates five blocks near OPL 247, including OML 130 (Akpo and Egina), OPL 221, OPL 222 (Usan) and OPL 223.
