Apache Corp., Houston, (NYSE: APA) has acquired a 45% stake in the Legendre Field offshore western Australia from Woodside Petroleum Ltd., Sydney, Australia, (Australia: WPL) for US$65 million, Reuters reports. Apache now has a 77.44% interest in the field. Australia's Santos Ltd. (Australia: STO) holds the rest. Woodside chief executive Don Voelte said Legendre was declining and the company decided it was more economical to sell the asset, Reuters reports. Legendre production is approximately 7,000 barrels of oil per day. Woodside is interim operator.
