Veteran attorneys David Asmus and Brian Bradshaw have joined Sidley Austin LLP’s energy practice in its Houston office, the law firm said on July 5. Asmus was named co-leader of the practice.
Asmus has an extensive practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, project development and finance transactions. He has advised clients on matters ranging from shale and other unconventional resources, to offshore developments, pipeline and processing projects, and LNG as well as petrochemicals and refining.
In his M&A practice, Asmus has handled over $50 billion of oil and gas acquisitions in the U.S. and internationally. His projects practice is focused on both greenfield and brownfield LNG and petrochemical plants as well as offshore development, joint venture arrangements and unitizations. Asmus is a past president of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and a past chair of the Institute for Energy Law.
Bradshaw has worked in acquisitions and divestitures as well as the development and financing of oil and gas, power and LNG projects. He counsels clients in the energy industry on both domestic and international transactions with a focus on Latin America. His project development and financing work focuses on power development and transmission and upstream, midstream and downstream projects, including more than 25 LNG projects. He is a past board member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and a past chair of the Oil and Gas Section of the International Bar Association.
“We are very excited to welcome Dave and Brian to Sidley,” said Kevin Lewis, co-managing partner of Sidley’s Houston office. “Their reputations in the energy field globally bring an important added dimension to our energy practice. In addition to boosting our U.S. energy M&A and projects work, we expect their presence will expand dramatically Sidley’s LNG and other projects work as well as energy M&A in Latin America, Africa, Asia and elsewhere.”
