Oceaneering, BP Angola Subsea Contract Gets Extension
The Ocean Intervention III will continue its work offshore Angola for BP Plc through January 2019 following an agreement to extend the field support vessel services contract.
Oceaneering International Inc. said the ship will remain on blocks 18 and 31 through April 2017, with five one-month option periods for further extension. The contract calls for additional vessels and services to be provided on an as-needed basis.
As part of the agreement, Oceaneering International will provide numerous vessel-related subsea services including ROVs, tooling, asset integrity and diving services, CEO M. Kevin McEvoy said in a statement. He added that Oceaneering has made a long-term commitment to operations in Angola.
N-Sea Adds Siem Barracuda To Fleet
The N-Sea Group, a provider of subsea inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR), has bolstered its fleet with the long-term charter of the Siem Barracuda, an offshore subsea construction vessel.
The Siem offshore vessel is equipped with twin work class ROVs, moonpool deployed, a 250T active heave compensation crane and capacity to accommodate a crew of 110. It is built specifically for subsea IMR, survey and construction operations.
“This is a state-of-the-art subsea vessel, which increases our ability to operate within greater parameters of harsh weather,” N-Sea’s COO Roddy James said in a statement. “The Siem Barracuda has added another highly efficient dive support and survey vessel to the N-Sea fleet. Its technical specifications not only increase our capabilities across the subsea IMR field, but also build upon the safe, efficient ethos for which N-Sea is renowned.”
