Vermilion Energy Inc. (VET.TO) appointed Sarah Raiss to its board of directors, as well as its governance and human resources committee, the company said March 10.
Raiss came to Vermilion from TransCanada Corp. (TO: TRP.TO), where she was executive vice president from 2000-2011, the company said.
Before joining TransCanada, Raiss had a consulting firm specializing in strategy, culture change and merger integration, the company noted, adding that she has held senior executive positions with telecommunications firms, such as AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T), formerly Ameritech.
Raiss holds a bachelor’s of science in applied mathematics from the University of Michigan, the company said, noting that she also holds an MBA from the university.
In 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006, she was consecutively named in Canada’s Most Powerful Women Top 100, and in 2007 was inducted into the Top 100 hall of fame, Vermilion said.
“We look forward to the contribution Ms. Raiss will make to our board of directors and the ongoing success of Vermilion,” the company said.
Calgary-based Vermilion Energy acquires, explores and develops producing properties in western Canada, as well as in Europe and Australia.
