Total E&P PNG Ltd. began drilling the Antelope-6 appraisal well in Papua New Guinea’s Gulf province, InterOil Corp. said Dec. 24.
Total E&P operates the petroleum retention license in the province. The well provides structural control and reservoir definition on the field's eastern flank. Its proposed total depth is about 2,464 m (8,084 ft) true vertical. It is located about 2 km east-southeast of Antelope-3.
Singapore-based InterOil holds a 36.5375% interest in the well. Total E&P has a 40.1275% interest, Oil Search has 22.8350% and minority parties hold the remaining 0.5000%, the company said.
