Timothy Brady resigned as CFO and treasurer of Dakota Plains Holdings Inc., the company said April 4.
Craig McKenzie, CEO, said Brady helped manage the company when it went public and its listing on the New York Stock Exchange.
Jim Thornton will become interim CFO and principal financial officer; he is currently executive vice president for strategy, general counsel and secretary, Dakota Plains said.
The company began the search process for a permanent CFO.
Thornton has been general counsel and secretary of Dakota Plains since joining in March 2013. He has been executive vice president for strategy since December 2015. Thornton plans and manages strategic business goals and manages legal and regulatory affairs.
Previously, he was the senior legal counsel of Toreador Resources Corp. in Paris before its combination with ZaZa Energy Corp. in 2012.
From 2007 to 2011, Thornton was an attorney at Dentons US LLP’s Atlanta office. Prior to that, he worked at Balch & Bingham LLP and Locke Lord LLP.
Thornton has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee and a law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law.
