The succession plan Subsea 7 SA laid out last year following the September 2019 announcement of CEO Jean Cahuzac’s retirement went into effect on Jan. 1, the offshore energy services company said in a release.
Succeeding Cahuzac, who had served as CEO of Subsea 7 since 2008, is John Evans, formerly Subsea 7’s COO.
Evans has over 30 years of experience in the offshore energy services industry and has been with Subsea 7 since 2005. He previously worked for KBR in a number of general management, commercial and operational roles.
In addition to Evans stepping into his new role, Subsea 7 also added to its executive team with three new promotions, all effective Jan. 1. The new appointments include:
- Olivier Blaringhem as executive vice president of SURF and conventional;
- Steph McNeill as executive vice president of renewables; and
- Phil Simons as executive vice president of projects and operations.
Commenting on the executive team changes, Evans said in a statement: “I’m delighted to take up my new role and my priority is to lead our high-caliber leadership team into our next chapter in an evolving energy industry.”
Following his retirement as CEO, Cahuzac will continue as a non-executive director of the company.
