Solaris Oilfield Infrastructure LLC deployed the 5-million pound mobile sand silo system, recently used to complete a zipper frack in the Permian Basin, the company said Aug. 10.
The 12-silo system delivered sand at about 23,000 pounds per minute into two blenders simultaneously. It was used to complete 34 frack stages and deliver 30 million pounds of sand during the four-day completion of two wells, Solaris added.
The system enabled 22 frack sand trucks to simultaneously unload sand at the wellsite.
The system was developed to complement the original six-silo, 2.5-million pound mobile sand silo system, which has been used in major basins across the U.S. including the Marcellus.
Solaris’ fleet of six-silo systems now stands at 18, having more than quadrupled since September 2014. The company will continue to add to its fleet of both six- and 12-silo systems to meet market demand. Solaris also is adapting its mobile sand silos for use in rail-to-truck and truck-to-truck transloading. The first mobile transload system is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of this year.
Solaris also recently deployed its new, state-of-the-art sand controls system, which monitors multiple proppant delivery data points in real time from any location, including inside a frack technician’s data van. The system samples more than 1,400 data points, aggregating and trending proppant inventory levels and consumption rates.
Solaris Oilfield Infrastructure is based in Houston.
