Partners owning Saddlehorn Pipeline Co. LLC said Dec. 9 it has launched a supplemental open season to seek additional transportation commitments for the Saddlehorn crude oil pipeline serving the Denver-Julesburg (D-J) Basin.
The Saddlehorn pipeline will be able to transport at least 190,000 barrels per day of crude oil from the D-J Basin to storage facilities in Cushing, Okla.
The pipeline, which is currently under construction, has the potential to serve the broader Rocky Mountain area resource plays, the release said.
The pipeline's Platteville, Colo., origin and Cushing destination will each include one million barrels of storage. The pipeline is also being extended from Platteville to Carr, Colo.
The Platteville-to-Cushing segment of the pipeline is expected to be operational during mid-2016, and the Carr-to-Platteville segment is expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2016.
Partners include Magellan Midstream Partners LP (NYSE: MMP), Plains All American Pipeline LP (NYSE: PAA) and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: APC).
As previously announced, Saddlehorn has already received binding commitments from a subsidiary of Anadarko and from Noble Energy Inc. (NYSE: NBL).
Interested customers must submit binding commitments by 5 p.m. CST on Jan. 7.
