RigNet Inc. (RNET) has deployed an iDirect series 5IF universal satellite hub in Guaratiba, Brazil, VT iDirect Inc. (iDirect), a company of VT SystemsInc. (VT Systems), said in a news release.
The installment will enable RigNet to accelerate its penetration of the region's growing oil and gas and energy maritime markets, the release said. iDirect provides satellite-based IP communications technology.
Based on the network expansion, RigNet will offer a managed service for energy, deepwater maritime, and remote applications such as VoIP, Internet, video-conferencing, and video services. The network delivers Ku-band bandwidth over iDirect's Evolution iDX 3.1 software and X5 remote. This deployment follows RigNet's recent expansion of iDirect services into the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions, the release said.
