Richard Erskine, president of Atmos Pipeline—Texas, was elected chairman of the Texas Pipeline Association (TPA), the largest state trade association in the country, according to a Jan. 13 release.
The TPA solely represents the interests of the intrastate pipeline network.
"I am proud to welcome an industry professional who brings extensive midstream sector expertise, Richard Erskine, as TPA’s chairman," said Thure Cannon, president of TPA. "I would also like to extend my thanks to outgoing TPA Chairman, Michael T. Hunter, for his excellent leadership over the past year."
The announcement was made on Jan. 9 at TPA’s annual meeting held at the Hilton DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Houston.
Erskine became president of Atmos Pipeline—Texas when Atmos Energy acquired TXU Gas in 2004. During 2005 to 2007, he also served as president of the Mid-Tex Division, which conducts local gas distribution functions. Previously, he was vice president of natural gas supply and marketing for TXU Gas.
In 1974, he joined Lone Star Gas Co., the predecessor to TXU Gas, and held management and executive positions in commercial and operational areas, including gas transportation services, planning, gas control, reservoir engineering and gas supply.
Erskine has a business administration degree from the University of North Texas and is active in many natural gas industry associations.
