Plains All American Pipeline LP plans to add pumps to increase the takeaway capacity of the Cactus Pipeline, the company said in a statement. The expansion is in response to higher production forecasts and shipper demand for the region. Installation of booster stations along the pipeline, which runs from McCamey to Gardendale, Texas, will increase throughput capacity from about 250,000 barrels per day (bbl/d) to about 330,000 bbl/d.
In conjunction with the previously announced Eagle Ford Joint Venture Pipeline expansion, this project will allow the company to move increased production volumes from the Permian Basin to Corpus Christi, Texas, and other delivery points along the system. The Cactus Pipeline is expected to enter service in April 2015, while the expansion will be complete in fourth-quarter 2015.
