Eastern Mediterranean explorer Malta Oil and Gas has committed to acquiring new data to help define prospects within its offshore licences areas.
MOG will carry out a new work programme which includes acquisition of up to 1,500 km of 2-D seismic data over Offshore Malta Area 3, encompassing blocks 1, 2 and 3. Data acquisition will take place in the first half this year over the acreage, which is regarded by MOT as a frontier area.
Area 3 is operated by Cairn Energy subsidiary Capricorn Malta, which holds 60% equity in the area. MOG’s subsidiary Melita Exploration holds 40% in the area.
