Metocean Services International (MSI) was awarded a two-year multiple location metocean measurement project offshore Mozambique for Anadarko Moçambique Area 1, Ltda.
Anadarko is in the early stages of developing multiple, deepwater natural gas discoveries in the Rovuma Basin, offshore Mozambique. Consistent with these efforts, a metocean-data-gathering program has been designed that will measure wind, wave, current, water/air temperature, tides, etc. This environmental data, once processed, will aid in the offshore, coastal and onshore developments for the entire project.
The metocean program that MSI has been awarded comprises seven shallow and seven deep moorings in water depths ranging from approximately 6.0 m (19 ft) to 2,000 m (6,600 ft), an offshore weather station, onshore weather station and shore-based tide gauge.
The seven shallow moorings include Nortek acoustic wave and current meters (AWACs) and RBR CTD loggers with turbidity sensors. Six of the seven deep sites are short in-line moorings fitted with TRDI acoustic, doppler current profilers (ADCPs) and RBR CTD loggers with turbidity sensors.
The deepest site is a full, water-column mooring comprising a combination of Nortek AWAC, Nortek Aquadopp single point current meters, RBR CTD logger with turbidity sensor and TRDI ADCP.
After installation, equipment will be serviced initially after one month, and thereafter every three months for the entire project duration. MSI will charter a vessel specifically for the offshore operations.
