Magnum Hunter Resources Corp. hired John K. Reinhart as president and CEO, the Irving, Texas-based company said Sept. 6.
Reinhart, 47, has more than 22 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including at Ascent Resources LLC and Chesapeake Energy Corp. (NYSE: CHK). For the last 10 years, he has focused in upstream exploration, development and production activities primarily in the Marcellus and Utica shales in Ohio and West Virginia, according to a press release.
"With the acreage position that the company has acquired in the premier low-cost gas basin in the United States, Magnum Hunter's Marcellus and Utica shale plays strategically position the company for growth and value creation. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead the company to the achievement of its strategic and operational goals," Reinhart said in a statement.
Prior to joining Magnum Hunter, Reinhart served as executive vice president and COO of Ascent Resources, an affiliate of American Energy Partners LP, from 2014 to 2016. He also worked for Chesapeake Energy for eight years, most recently as senior vice president of operations and technical services.
From 2009 to 2013, Reinhart also served as Chesapeake's vice president of operations for the Eastern Division, where he led the start-up, growth and development of Chesapeake's Marcellus and Utica assets, the release said.
Before Chesapeake, Reinhart worked for Schlumberger Ltd. (NYSE: SLB) for 11 years in various engineering and operational leadership roles. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University in 1994.
