John Hogg, president at Skybattle Resources in Calgary, Canada, has assumed the presidency of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), according to a July 1 news release.
Hogg, a native of Hamilton, Ontario, is an AAPG honorary member who previously was chair of the AAPG House of Delegates and president of the association’s Canadian region, the release said. In 2007 he was elected AAPG’s first vice president-Regions, and he received the AAPG Distinguished Service Award in 2002.
Hogg earned his bachelor’s degree in geology from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. His career as a petroleum geologist has focused on exploration and new discoveries at several major oil companies including, Husky Oil, EnCana and ConocoPhillips Canada, the release said.
Joining Hogg on the AAPG executive committee is Paul Britt, president of Texplore Inc., Houston, who recently was voted president-elect and will serve as AAPG president in 2016-17. Others on the 2015-16 executive committee are:
- Vice president (sections) Steve Brachman, vice president of exploration and development, Wapiti Energy, Houston;
- Vice president (regions) Peter Lloyd, honorary professor, Asia Pacific Training Ltd., Falicon, France;
- Secretary Heather LaReau, senior geologist, Noble Energy, Denver;
- Treasurer Jim Tucker, former longtime geologist for Saudi Aramco and now a consulting geologist in Houston;
- Editor Michael Sweet, geoscience technical team lead, ExxonMobil Angola Production, Houston and
- Chair, AAPG House of Delegates, Bob Shoup, international training and consulting manager, SCA, Houston.
