Gusto BV has specified seawater lift pumps and electric fire pumps from Hamworthy for installation on board the Cidade de Paraty floating production and storage offshore (FPSO) vessel, due for delivery into Brazilian waters in 2013.??Gusto, the design, engineering, procurement, project management and consultancy services arm of SBM Offshore, will operate the FPSO on behalf of Petrobras in the Tupi Nordeste development in the Santos basin pre-salt area under a 20 year lease agreement.??
The hull of the Cidade de Paraty FPSO is under construction at Keppel Shipyard, Singapore, from where it will be transferred to Brazil for topside conversion.??Terje Bjornemo, Hamworthy Pump Room Systems Sales Director, said that pump room equipment delivery was due to the Singapore yard by April 2011, from Hamworthy’s Singapore-based production facility.??
“Brazil is a key market for technology companies involved in marine and offshore,” he said, “and strengthening our ties with Asia’s leading FPSO conversion and construction yards remains one of Hamworthy’s primary objectives. For us, one of the most significant aspects of this contract is that it follows so closely after our order covering pump room systems for Brazil’s Papa Terra FPSO, for BW Offshore. ”??
Mr Bjornemo was referring to a deal struck in August, whereby Hamworthy will deliver cargo pump room system, seawater lift and firewater pumps for the Papa Terra FPSO under conversion at COSCO Dalian, for redelivery by late 2011.??In the case of the Cidade de Paraty FPSO, Hamworthy’s scope of delivery will comprise three dry mounted seawater lift electrically-driven heavy duty C42BB pumps installed in the FPSO’s pump room and two electrically-driven C22BA firewater pumps installed in the engine room. ??
“This order represents a further endorsement of our continuing investment in the offshore sector,” said Mr Bjornemo. “Just last month our Danish operation, Hamworthy Svanehøj, launched the first of what will become an entirely new range of combined sea water lift and fire pumps. We believe that our relationships with yards and customers can only be sustained by continual investment in new technology.”
Hamworthy Svanehøj’s new deepwell seawater lifting pumps and fire pumps ‘DWS’ will be available ranging in capacity from 700 m3/hr to 1700 m3/hr and with a differential pressure up to 180 mlc. The pumps are driven by a dry mounted electric motor in explosion-proof execution, through a pipe stack with transmission shaft and cargo lubricated bearings.
