Fugro took delivery of the Fugro Americas, a newbuild shallow draft survey vessel, on March 18, the company said March 25.
It is designed to work in the U.S. GoM and other areas including North and South America and the Caribbean, the company said.
The 59-m vessel can conduct high-resolution geophysical and light geotechnical surveys in water depths up to 4,500 m. It holds geological survey equipment and instruments including a dynamic positioning system and state-of-the-art survey systems. The systems include a deepwater EM302 multibeam echosounder for gas seep surveys.
It is built to operate Fugro’s new, 4,500 m-rated Hugin 1000 AUV, Echo Surveyor VII, which was delivered in December 2014.
Fugro Americas was built by Thomas-Sea Marine Constructors in Houma, La., with supervision by Fugro Marine Services.
