ExxonMobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) employees and retirees in North Texas raised more than $1.7 million for charitable organizations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area through its annual Employees’ Favorite Charities Campaign, the company said Jan. 3.


More than 175 charities serving Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hunt, Rockwall and Tarrant Counties will benefit, the company said.


“ExxonMobil has a long history of supporting community groups and educational organizations in North Texas through financial contributions and thousands of hours volunteered by employees and retirees,” Rex W. Tillerson, chairman and CEO, said.


Since 2008, ExxonMobil’s employees and retirees have provided more than $34 million and 65,000 volunteer hours to North Texas charitable organizations and universities. Monetary contributions have increased by 12% in the last three years, the company said.


“Our employees and retirees continue a strong tradition of giving in the communities where we live and work,” Tillerson added.


ExxonMobil is the largest publicly traded international oil and gas company. It operates around the world, and is headquartered in Irving, Texas.
