Dragados Offshore of Spain has won a $20-million contract from Statoil to build and install the gas liquefaction plant for the Snohvit field.
Snohvit, located in the Barents Sea off northern Norway, is scheduled to produce some 201 Bcf of gas annually. Production is set to get underway in 2006.
The liquefaction plant will be installed on a barge currently under construction at Spain’s Izar Fene shipyard. Plant installation will take place at the Dragados facility in Cadiz.
On completion of the installation, the barge will be towed to Melkoya, an island near Hammerfest in Northern Norway. Plans call for the barge to be in place in 2005.
