Crowley Maritime Corp. acquired 16 additional ISO tanks for its Carib Energy Group that will transport and distribute LNG to customers in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Central America, the company said July 20.

The 40-foot tanks can each hold 10,700 gallons of LNG. The domestic logistics team will manage the LNG’s transportation to customers’ storage units. The company’s shipping terminals are in Jacksonville, Fla. and Port Everglades, Fla.

In 2014, Carib Energy received a 20-year, small-scale export license from the U.S. Department of Energy to supply, transport and distribute LNG into non-Free Trade Agreement countries in the Caribbean, Central and South America. Up to 14.6 billion cubic feet per day of LNG – roughly equal to 480,000 gallons – can be exported through 10,700-gallon ISO tanks.
