One of the partners in a possible discovery in the Cape Three Points license offshore Ghana has been unable to provide any further details of the discovery.
As reported in the last issue (see DI, 17 September, 2014, page 4) operator Lukoil was rumoured to have made a discovery in the license block, based on a Bloomberg report which cited “a person with direct knowledge of the development”.
But PanAtlantic, one of the other partners, was unable to throw any further light on the reported discovery. A source at the US company contacted by DI would only say: “PanAtlantic defers all information requests to the operator of the license, Lukoil.” An email to Lukoil sent by DI enquiring about the discovery remains unanswered.
Lukoil operates Cape Three Points with 56.66%, PanAtlantic – previously known as Vanco – holds 28.34% and Ghana National Petroleum Corp. holds 15% on the licence, which spans 5,142 sq km (1,984 sq miles) in the Gulf of Guinea in water depths of up to 3,000 m (9,843 ft).
