The process of officially issuing contracts for Total’s deepwater Egina field offshore Nigeria following its approval continues (see last issue of DI, page 1), with Technip the latest to confirm an award.
The French contractor’s wholly-owned subsidiary DUCO Ltd. was awarded a contract by Total Upstream Nigeria Ltd. To supply umbilicals for the field in OML 130. Egina is located approximately 200 km from Port Harcourt, in water depths ranging from 1,150-1,750 m (3,773-5,742 ft).
The contract, valued at up to US $100 million, covers the project management, engineering and manufacture of 76 km of steel tube umbilicals including production, water injection and subsea isolation valve (SSIV) umbilicals.
As part of project execution activities, significant amounts of project management (80%) and engineering (30%) will be carried out locally in Nigeria, says Technip.
The umbilicals will be manufactured in their entirety at Duco’s facility in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the UK. The project is scheduled for delivery in 2016.
