A couple of wildcats will add to Anadarko Petroleum Corp.’s campaign in southern Maverick County, Texas (RRC 1). The Woodlands, Texas, company will drill its #1 Briscoe Tovar Ranch to 12,000 ft. in Antonio Rivas Survey, A-788, about two miles northeast of the Texas-Mexico border. The closest well was drilled below 10,000 ft. and is more than eight miles southeast in Dimmitt County, but that well was completed in San Miguel zones shallower than 3,000 ft. Anadarko also plans #1 LMBI Rio Bravo Ranch more than 25 miles southeast of Eagle Pass and four miles east of the Texas-Mexico border. That well, in the same survey as #1 Briscoe Tovar Ranch but seven miles northwest, is projected to 11,000 ft., according to IHS Inc.
