Aker Oilfield Services has signed a contract to provide subsea construction services offshore Brazil, although the value was not disclosed.
An undisclosed customer will utilise the company’s subsea construction vessel Aker Wayfarer for a period of 230 days. Startup of operations is likely to be in May or June this year, with mobilisation and de-mobilisation taking place in the north-east UK. Aker Wayfarer has previously been on a year- long campaign offshore Brazil during 2011 and 2012.
“To secure another long-term campaign offshore Brazil is a compliment to the capabilities of Aker Wayfarer and her crew,” said Karl Erik Kjelstad, president of the Aker Solutions subsidiary.
Aker Wayfarer is a 157 m (515 ft) long vessel capable of operating in water depths of up to 3,000 m (9,843 ft). She comes with two heave compensated cranes of 400 t and 100 t (dual fall) capacity. The contract has been signed and booked as order intake.
