W&T Offshore Inc.’s vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, Shahid A. Ghauri, is leaving the Houston-based company to pursue “other personal interests,” a company release on April 11 said.
Tracy W. Krohn, chairman and CEO, commented, “We appreciate Shahid’s dedicated efforts during his five years with the company.”
Ghauri joined W&T Offshore in March 2017 and effective April 7, 2017 became vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. He had previously served as a partner with Jones Walker, where he focused primarily on business and commercial transactions in the oil and gas sector, and before that was the assistant general counsel of BHP Billiton Petroleum, where he managed the legal team responsible for unconventional resource plays.
“He has been a trusted adviser to management and our board, as well as being actively involved in the many transactions we completed during his tenure,” Krohn continued. “We will miss his insight and wish him the very best in the future.”
Nadege Assale, who has served as assistant general counsel for the past two years, will assume the role of acting general counsel until Ghauri’s successor is named. Ghauri will remain with W&T through April 22 to assist in the transition, according to the release.
W&T Offshore is an independent oil and natural gas producer with operations offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and has grown through acquisitions, exploration and development. As of year-end 2021, the company had working interests in 43 fields in federal and state waters and has under lease approximately 606,000 gross acres, according to the company release.
