1 Nevada's Pine Valley has a new producer completed by two Texas companies pumping 254 bbl. of oil and 16 bbl. of water per day, reports IHS Energy Group. V.F. Neuhaus Properties Inc., McAllen, and Winn Exploration Co. Inc., Eagle Pass, tested the #32-2RR Tomera Ranch from an openhole interval at 1,175-79 ft. in fractured chert. The Tomera Ranch Field well is in Section 33-31n-52e, Eureka County. 2 The Uintah and Ouray Reservation in Utah is the location of a discovery made by Roosevelt, Utah, independent Wind River Resources Corp. in Section 11-15s-20, Uintah County. The company's #6-11-15-20 North Hill Creek gave up a flow of 1.6 million cu. ft. of gas per day through perforations at 3,720-35 ft. and 3752-62 ft. in Tertiary Wasatch. IHS Energy Group points out the new-field opener is part of a southeastern Uinta Basin exploration program stemming from a U.S. Department of Energy program targeting energy resources on Native American Lands. Earlier, the company completed another wildcat a mile southeast in Section 12-the #11-12-15-10 North Hill Creek-that flowed 50 bbl. of oil, 450,000 cu. ft. of gas and 25 bbl. of water per day from three intervals in Wasatch between 3,643-88 ft. Both wells were tested on a 20/64-in. choke. The new producing area is on Flat Rock Mesa. 3 A remote wildcat drilled by Bonneville Fuels Corp. at the #6-27-15-25 McDonald Creek in Section 27-15n-25e, Petroleum County, Mont., has yielded a small amount of oil. The Denver firm pumped seven bbl. of oil and 20 bbl. of water per day from Jurassic Swift at 970-980 ft. Total depth is 1,924 ft. The closest commercial production is about 25 miles east in Cat Creek Field. 4 Cam West Exploration, Denver, reestablished production in North Dakota's Ice Caves Field by completing a deeper-pool opener flowing at a rate 4.1 million cu. ft. of gas and 100 bbl. of condensate per day from Ordovician Red River "D" at about 13,500 ft. The Rocky Mountain Oil Journal reports that, according to documents filed with the North Dakota Industrial Commission, the #22-6 Beta Race Federal, Section 6-144n-100w, Billings County, was tested for one hr. and flowed gas at the 4.1 million cu. ft. per day rate, with 4.5 bbl. of condensate. Previously, the field produced from Mississippian Bakken and Devonian Duperow. 5 Nance Petroleum Corp., Billings, established Silurian Stonewall production in North Dakota's North Tioga Field at the #1-36H State, a horizontal well that yielded 82 bbl. of oil and 40 bbl. of water, with 115,000 cu. ft. of gas, per day on pump. IHS Energy Group reports the discovery is in Section 36-160n-95w, Divide County. It's producing from a horizontal interval between 12,177-15,000 ft. 6 The East Echo Springs area of Carbon County, Wyo., continues see development, says IHS Energy Group. Activity there includes a successful exploratory well, the northernmost test in the area, completed by Devon SFS Operating Inc. flowing 2.1 million cu. ft. of gas, 43 bbl. of condensate and 35 bbl. of water per day. The Oklahoma City firm tested though perforations at 8,077-8,123 ft in Upper Cretaceous Lewis at the #16-22-19-92 East Echo Springs, Section 22-19n-92w. A half-mile east in Section 23, BP America Production Co., Houston, has staked a 9,129-ft. Cretaceous test at the #23-1 High Point. BP intends to evaluate Lewis and the Almond member of the Mesaverde. 7 Artesia, N.M.-based Yates Petroleum Corp. recorded a flow of 1.633 million cu. ft. of gas and 427 bbl. of water per day from six Cretaceous Lance/Mesaverde intervals between 11,998-13.541 ft. at the #11 Highway-Federal in southwestern Wyoming. The new producer is a discovery on the southern end of Pinedale Anticline in Section 3-29n-107w, Sublette County. 8 Wyoming's Antelope Arch is the site of a successful wildcat drilled by Patina Oil & Gas Corp., Denver. The company's #4-1 Pappy Draw-Federal, Section 4-26n-93w, Sweetwater County, yielded 682,000 cu. ft. of gas and 14 bbl. of water per day on a 32/64-in. choke from Cretaceous Second Frontier at 9,757-72 ft. and 9,801-32 ft. There are no Frontier producing wells within 10 miles of the discovery, according to IHS Energy Group. Elsewhere in Sweetwater County, Amoco Production Co. is rumored to have tested up to 8 million cu. ft. of gas per day from Upper Cretaceous at its #13-16 Whale wildcat, according to the Rocky Mountain Oil Journal. The prospect is in Section 16-25n-106w, about nine miles north of Stagecoach Draw Field. It was projected to a depth of 11,720 ft. in Mesaverde. 9 In Nebraska, a remote wildcat has been completed by Black Hills Exploration & Production Inc. as a Cretaceous Dakota oil discovery. The Black Hills, S.D., company's #14-19 Eva Marie is in Section 19-7n-39w, Chase County. The well, set up as a 3,500-ft. test of Dakota, is about 14 miles north of the nearest producing wells in Trammel Field. 10 Prowers County in southeastern Colorado has a new Pennsylvanian Morrow gas well, the #1 Spartan completed by Greenwood Village, Colo., independent Thomas L. Spring flowing 840,000 cu. ft. of gas and one bbl. of condensate per day. The Signal Hill Field well was tested on a 16/64-in. choke through perforations at 5,009-29 ft. It's in Section 18-24s-45w. 11 The Oklahoma City firm of Huntington Energy LLC is drilling below 440 ft., on the way to a projected depth of 13,000 ft. at the #34-1 Pretty Lady 30-11 in Section 34-30n-11w, San Juan County, N.M. Located in an area that has produced from several Cretaceous zones between 2,000-8,000 ft. in Blanco, Basin and Aztec fields, the deeper-pool wildcat is scheduled to test several Pennsylvanian zones. 12 Union Oil Co. of California is moving in rotary tools at the #1 Griner, a wildcat that's to be drilled in Section 3-5s-15w, Seward Meridian, in the vicinity of Anchor Point on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. Target depth and objectives are not disclosed, but possibly could include Tyonek sands. IHS Energy Group says the venture is six miles west-southwest of North Fork Field, a Tyonek gas pool that produces from about 7,200 ft. The #1 Griner is the first test of a three-well exploratory program Unocal has scheduled for the area. 13 Anadarko Petroleum Corp. is drilling its first operated test on the North Slope, reports IHS Energy Group. The wildcat, the #1 Altamura in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (NPR-A), is being directionally drilled from a surface location in Section 30-9n-2e, Umiat Meridia, to a proposed bottomhole location in Section 31. The test is within 10 miles south of recent NPR-A discoveries made by Phillips Alaska Inc. and Anadarko on the Rendezvous and Spark prospects. 14 Exploratory work by Phillips Alaska Inc. on the North Slope includes several tests that are under way or scheduled. South of the Kuparuk River Unit, on the Grizzly Prospect, the company is drilling its #1 Grizzly, 1-4n-5e, Umiat Meridian, and has made locations for two more wildcats on the prospect-the #2 Grizzly, Section 14-5n-5e, and #3 Grizzly, Section 8-6n-5e. About 18 miles east, Phillips has staked the #1 Heavenly in Section 4-4n-8e. Phillips is drilling three ventures in the NPR-A: the Hunter-A in Section 30-9n-1w, Umiat Meridian; #2 Lookout, Section 25-11n-2e; and, the #1 Mitre in Section 2-10n-2e. Also in the NPR-A, permits have been issued to Phillips for the #1 Nova, Section 22-10n-2e, and #1 Pioneer, Section, Section 11-9n-2e. The company also is preparing to delineate the North Slope's Nanuq Field, having been granted a state drilling permit for an extended-reach exploratory test at the #5 Nanuq. Plans are for the venture to be drilled from a surface location in Section 24-11n-4e, Umiat Meridian, south-southeastward to a proposed bottomhole location in Section 31-11n-5e.
