1 Ratcliffe (Mississippian Madison) production has been established by Dallas independent Headington Oil LP at a workover in Montana's Crane Field. According to IHS Energy Group, the operator pumped 130 bbl. of oil and 169 bbl. of water, with 37,000 cu. ft. of gas, per day at the #44X-35 Atchison in Section 35-22n-58e, Richland County. The shallower-pool opener is producing through perforations at 8,576-96 ft. Headington originally completed the well a little more than a year ago as an oil discovery in the Mission Canyon member of Madison at 8,674-8714 ft. Also in Richland County, Luff Exploration Co., Denver, has completed the #O-33 Thorbjornson, Section 33-26n-58e, flowing 469 bbl. of oil, 250,000 cu. ft. of gas and 22 bbl. of water per day from Ordovician Red River "C." The horizontal producer has laterals at 12,340-13,864 ft. in a laminated zone and 12,762-13,490 ft. in a burrowed zone. A redrill of a marginal vertical Red River "C" producer completed in March, it offsets to the northwest the Four Mile Creek Field discovery completed in 1976 producing oil from Red River. 2 True Oil Co., Casper, made a discovery at the #21-24 Evanston in North Dakota's McKenzie County that yielded 500 bbl. of oil per day from Madison. The Rocky Mountain Oil Journal says the wildcat, in Section 24-148n-101w, was set up to test Mississippian to a depth of 10,000 ft. Still in McKenzie County, Oklahoma City-based Devon Energy Production Co. LP pumped 147 bbl. of oil and 117 bbl. of water per day at the #12-15 Federal to confirm its Devonian Birdbear (Nisku) discovery in Boxcar Butte Field. Perforations are at 11,114-24 ft. in Birdbear, reports IHS Energy Group. Located in Section 15-148n-102w, the confirmation is a recompletion of a Red River producer that offsets to the east Devon's Birdbear discovery, the #6-16 ND-State. 3 Traverse City, Mich., independent Jordan Exploration Co. LLC has completed two discoveries in Burke County, N.D., flowing gas from Red River, according to exhibits submitted at a hearing before the North Dakota Industrial Commission. The #6-19 Gilbertson, on Jordan's Happy Camper Prospect in Section 19-161n-94w, gave up a flow of 2.4 million cu. ft. of gas and 84 bbl. of condensate from about 12,000 ft. About six miles north-northeast, the #10-21 Lawrence, on the company's Myrtle Beach Prospect in Section 21-162n-94w, flowed 550,000 cu. ft. of gas, 20 bbl. of condensate and 20 bbl. of water per day from about 11,200 ft. 4 Bitter Creek Field in Sweetwater County, Wyo., was extended to the southwest with the completion of the Amoco Production Co. #21-1 Bitter Creek flowing 2.134 million cu. ft. of gas per day on a 32/64-in. choke., reports IHS Energy Group. Located in Section 21-16n-99w, the stepout is producing through perforations between 9,216-9,539 ft. in Lance, 9,586-9,624 ft. in Lewis and 11,237-11,650 ft. in Mesaverde (all Cretaceous). Another exploratory test in Sweetwater County-a remote wildcat-is the newly staked Anschutz Exploration Corp. #7-3 Aberdeen in Section 3-12n-110w. Anschutz, of Denver, plans to drill to 18,000 ft. to evaluate Lower Cretaceous Dakota. According to the Rocky Mountain Oil Journal, the test was staked as the result of an 86-mile 3-D seismic survey conducted by Anschutz about a year ago that straddled the Wyoming/Utah line. 5 Energy Exploration Technologies, Calgary, says it has acquired an interest in more than 3,300 acres covering its Antelope Tail Prospect on the southeastern portion of the Pinedale Anticline in Sublette County, Wyo., increasing the project area including the company's adjacent Poblano acreage block to a total of 25,000 acres. The prospect is on trend with a number of overpressured Lance and Mesaverde gas discoveries made during the past several years. Energy Technologies and its U.S. joint venture and operating partner, CamWest Exploration LLC, are planning to drill the first Antelope Tail exploratory test during this quarter. Energy Technologies has a 5.625% to 22.5% working interest in the Poblano/Antelope Tail project area. Meanwhile, successful drilling to Lance continues in Sublette County. A Pinedale Anticline well completed by Questar Exploration & Production Co., Salt Lake City, flowed 9.931 million cu. ft. of gas, 72 bbl. of condensate and 72 bbl. of water per day from 72 intervals between 8,750-12,595 ft. The #16-29V Stewart Point is in Section 29-33n-109w. Alpine Gas Co., Englewood, Colo., made a gas discovery at the #10-16 Piney, Section 16-30n-111w, that tested at a rate of 250,000 cu. ft. per day on an 8/64-in. choke from 7,366-80 ft. A new producer on Jonah Field's northeastern flank, the Amoco Production Co. #16-14 Stud Horse Butte in Section 14-29n-108w, gave up a flow of 5.86 million cu. ft. of gas, 140 bbl. of condensate and 68 bbl. of water daily on a 48/64-in. choke from 11,975-12,515 ft. in the Wardell member of Lance. 6 Also in Sublette County, Wolverine Gas & Oil Corp. is drilling toward a target depth of approximately 14,000 ft. in Mesaverde at a remote wildcat. The venture is the #1-28 South Pass-Federal in Section 28-28n-105w. IHS Energy Group says it is about 16 miles east-southeast of Jonah Field. 7 Hunt Oil Co., Dallas, is drilling below 3,050 ft. at the #7-1 HOC-USA, a wildcat in (Lot 1) Section 7-48n-100w, Park County, Wyo. Projected to 7,800 ft., the venture is designed to evaluate the oil potential of Permian Phosphoria and Pennsylvanian Tensleep. 8 Two Wyoming wildcats have been staked by AEC Oil & Gas (USA) Inc., Denver, a subsidiary of Calgary independent Alberta Energy Corp., according to IHS Energy Group.
