Corrosion-resistant materials offered for surface pumps
Wood Group Surface Pumps now offers corrosion-resistant materials on its entire multistage centrifugal surface pumping systems (SPS) product line. Duplex stainless steel material (CD4Mu) impellers and diffusers are available for all surface pump sizes. This new material option will serve customers operating offshore with pumps used for seawater applications as well as onshore applications where increased corrosion protection is required. www.woodgroup.com
Petrophysical software introduced
Paradigm has introduced the latest version of Paradigm Geolog. This edition of Paradigm’s petrophysical analysis, well data management, and geological interpretation software provides a model-based petrophysical uncertainty process. It is designed for both formation evaluation and geosteering projects.
The outputs are designed to feed into the Paradigm SKUA/GOCAD Reservoir Risk Assessment (JACTA) module, the company’s existing solution for 3-D uncertainty analysis. Considering multiple coherent realizations of the petrophysical data leads to more robust assessment of hydrocarbons in place. www.pdgm.com
New conversion application available
GE Sensing has made pressure unit conversion mobile with the new Pressure Converter, a mobile application for measuring units of pressure in an industrial setting. Available in the Apple Application Store for free, this mobile tool can perform 28 types of pressure calculations. The Pressure Converter is ideal for plant, process, and service engineers; site contractors; and laboratory technicians in oil and gas, power generation, and other industrial settings. www.gesensinginspection.com
Borehole tool launched for LF, microseismic surveys
Spectraseis has launched a new borehole receiver array for low-frequency (LF) and microseismic measurements. The 4.4-in. outside diameter (OD) tool, which features six levels of high-sensitivity active receivers, has been designed for multiple downhole applications, including LF seismic surveys and microseismic monitoring projects. It is designed to be safely deployed and recovered on a tubing string in casing as small as 5.5-in. OD and in wells with temperatures up to 160ºF (70ºC).
The instrument includes:
• Broadband recording – The tool acquires three-component broadband measurements from 0.1 to 1,000 Hz;
• High-sensitivity receivers – Active geophones capable of recording wavefields to -190 dB are used in a multicomponent configuration to fully sample weak, ambient, or induced seismic activity;
• Multilevel array – The receiver array has six independent levels to facilitate source localization and directional analysis with adjustable vertical configurations;
• Deviated well deployment – A specially designed gimbaling mechanism allows for accurate measurements in boreholes deviated up to 24º; and
• Safe deployment – The tool is fully self-contained and operates autonomously, without cables running to the surface. All data are recorded and digitized downhole using onboard power sufficient for up to eight days of deployment. www.spectraseis.com
Non-radioactive traceable proppant available for down hole
CARBO Ceramics has introduced CARBONRT, an environmentally responsible development in proppant placement. The technology incorporates a taggant that allows downhole, near-wellbore detection of ceramic proppant. CARBONRT assists in determining fracture propagation and geometry designed to optimize stimulation effectiveness and maximize productive capacity.
With non-radioactive CARBONRT, there is no half-life deterioration. The proppant is engineered for extended identification, giving operators the flexibility to conduct post-frac logging months or years after fracturing. The proprietary tracer can be added to any ceramic proppant in the company’s product line. It is uniformly distributed through each grain of proppant, allowing for consistent distribution of the traceable marker throughout the fracture zone. www.carboceramics.com
