Shell Plc subsidiary Sarawak Shell Berhad (SSB) reported on Aug. 28 first gas from its operated Timi platform offshore Malaysia.

Timi is a sweet gas field discovered in 2018 under the SK318 production sharing contract.

The Timi platform is designed to produce up to 50,000 boe/d of gas at peak production and will transport the gas through a new 80-km pipeline to the F23 production hub. The project supports the future growth in the central Luconia area, off the coast of Sarawak.

The unmanned Timi wellhead platform is powered by a solar and wind hybrid power system. SSB said the platform is 60% lighter than a conventional tender-assisted drilling wellhead platform that relies on oil and gas for power.

SSB operates SK318 with 75% interest on behalf of partners PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd with 15% and Brunei Energy Exploration with 10%.
