Technology services provider Patterson-UTI appointed James "Mike" Holcomb COO and Mike Garvin president of Patterson-UTI Drilling Co. LLC, according to a company press release on Jan. 3.
Headquartered in Houston, Patterson-UTI provides contract drilling, pressure pumping and directional drilling services to oil and gas E&Ps across the U.S. and in select countries around the world.
Holcomb has served as president of Patterson-UTI Drilling for the past 10 years after joining the company in 1988 through the acquisition of Robertson Onshore. Prior to his role as president, he held several leadership positions within the company, as well as with the International Association of Drilling Contractors.
"With Patterson-UTI's recent growth and market outlook, this new position will allow us to provide additional support to our business units, enhance the ability of our businesses to continue to support our customers, and better position our company for future growth opportunities," president and CEO William "Andy" Hendricks commented in the release.
Garvin previously served as Patterson-UTI Drilling's senior vice president of operations, Hendricks said. Since beginning his onshore drilling career over 40 years ago, he has served in numerous leadership positions at GlobalSantaFe, Transocean and Ensco.
"He has been a valued leader at Patterson-UTI, as well as with the International Association of Drilling Contractors, and I look forward to Mike Garvin's seamless transition to president of Patterson-UTI Drilling," Hendricks continued.
