Three wells came in flowing several hundred bbl. per day and now each produce at least 100 bbl. of oil per day. 5 Tioga County, N.Y., is the site of a remote wildcat scheduled to be drilled by Columbia Natural Resources Inc., Charleston, W.Va. According to IHS Energy Group, Columbia's new venture is the #624831 TGS Holdings in Section B of Owego Quad, Tioga Township. Plans call for it to be drilled to an approximate depth of 10,780 ft. to evaluate Ordovician Trenton-Black River. The drillsite is more than six miles north of Stagecoach Field, which has produced gas from Devonian Helderberg. 6 Equitable Production Co., Charleston, recently completed a new-field opener and two high-volume gas wells in West Virginia. The company tested a flow of 1.08 million cu. ft. of gas per day at the discovery #506090 Cole & Crane Real Estate Trust, Island Creek District, Holden Quad, Logan County. The well was drilled to a total depth of 5,050 ft. and tested in three pays-Mississippian Big Lime between 2,496-2,682 ft.; "Upper Shale" (Berea) between 3,209-4,072 ft.; and, "Lower Shale" between 4,186-4,942 ft. Equitable is set to drill to 5,260-ft. at the #506089 test, located 0.5 mile to the northwest on the same lease. Equitable's two new gas producers are in Sandy River District, Panther Quad, McDowell County. The flow gauge was 4.98 million cu. ft. of gas per day at the 5,505-ft. #506144 West Virginia Department of Natural Resources. The well is producing from Mississippian Upper Maxton and Devonian Gordon/Berea, Upper and Lower Huron between 2,386-5,421 ft. In the same area, the company's 5,770-ft. #506189 North American Timber Co. flowed gas at the rate of 2 million cu. ft. per day from Big Lime, Gordon, Berea and Lower Huron between 3,476-5,575 ft. 7 Columbia Natural Resources Inc. is drilling the #624771 Woodrow Cutlip et ux., a Clay County, W.Va., deeper-pool wildcat that's scheduled to go to 15,000 ft. to Precambrian. The exploratory venture is in Otter District, Strange Creek Quad, in an area that has production from much shallower Big Lime. 8 Drilling is under way at the Capital East Ventures Inc. #1 Reynolds in Hawkins County, Tenn., reports IHS Energy Group. The Carson City, Nev., firm plans to take the remote wildcat to an approximate depth of 5,500 ft. in Cambro-Ordovician Knox. The project is in Section 20-2s-78e, Bulls Gap Quad, about seven miles southeast of an unnamed Upper Devonian Chattanooga pool. 9 In Alabama, Dallas independent Midroc Operating Co. is drilling below 11,380 ft. and nearing the target depth of 12,100 ft. at a Conecuh County Jurassic Smackover wildcat. According to the Southeastern Oil Review, Midroc's #1 Cedar Creek Land & Timber 24-5 is nearly 1.75 miles west and slightly north of Smackover oil and gas production in Little Cedar Creek Field. It's being drilled in Section 24-4n-11e. 10 Ventex Operating Corp., Dallas, is production-testing Smackover at a wildcat-the #1 Federal 16-11-in Section 18-2n-15e, Covington County, Ala. Ventex has perforated at 11,482-89 ft., 11,496-99, 11,544-48 and 11,569-74 ft. at the prospect, 3.5 miles south-southeast of Lower Cretaceous Hosston production in Pleasant Home Field. The indicated discovery was drilled to a total depth of 11,920 ft. 11 The Southeastern Oil Review reports Jackson, Miss.-based Roundtree & Associates Inc. has completed a Paleozoic shallower-pool opener in Alabama's Fayette County flowing 330,000 cu. ft per day from Lewis Sand.
