The Fulton, Miss., operator's venture, nearly two miles southeast of 992-ft. Evans Sand gas production in X-Files Field, is expected to reach a total depth of 2,000 ft. 7 In Michigan, Matrix Exploration & Development LLC is slated to drill a Devonian Detroit River wildcat at the #1-22 Shinn et al., Section 22-18n-12w, Cherry Valley Township, Lake County. IHS Energy Group reports Mount Pleasant, Mich.-based Matrix plans to directionally drill the venture to an approximate depth of 3,560 ft. The project is about six miles north of the closest producing well. 8 Lawrence County, Ill., is to get an Ordovician Trenton exploratory test, scheduled to be drilled by Jasper Oil Producers, Mount Sterling, Ill. The #1-25 Racop, Section 25-5n-11w, is to go to a depth of 4,200 ft. There is no production from Trenton in the vicinity. The drillsite is a little more than two miles south and southeast of production in the multipay Main Consolidated Field and a little more than a mile west-southwest of 1,670-ft. Mississippian McClosky production in Russellville Field. 9 J.W. Rudy Co., Clay City, Ill., plans to drill to an approximate depth of 4,150 ft. to evaluate Devonian at the #1 Shaffer in Section 13-3n-3e, Marion County, Ill. The new wildcat is nearly three miles southwest of the closest production, from 2,428 ft. in McClosky, in Omega Northwest Field. It's also 3.5 miles west of Omega Field, which has production from several Mississippian pays including McClosky and Salem. The new venture offsets to the west a test that was completed in 1973 as a 4,213-ft. dry hole. A show of oil was found at 4,018-24 ft. in Devonian Tully while the test was being drilled, however, a drillstem test run at 4,008-24 ft. recovered only 20 ft. of mud. 10 Another Devonian test is scheduled for the Illinois Basin, this one the Horizontal Systems Inc. #1 Stoll in Daviess County, Ind. The new project is in Section 11-3n-6w, about 1.75 miles northwest of the one-well Montgomery East Field, which produces oil from Salem at about 1,100 ft. The #1 Stoll has a target depth of 2,000 ft., according to IHS Energy Group. Horizontal Systems is based in Casey, Ill. 11 Four 1,950-ft. wildcats targeting Devonian New Albany gas reserves have been staked by North Coast Energy Eastern Inc., Ravenswood, W.Va., in Kentucky's Ready Quad.
