Charles T. Evans Trust , Nashville, Ill., has staked a 4,500-ft. wildcat in St. Clair County, Ill., reports IHS Energy Group. Several formations through Cambro-Ordovician Knox are to be evaluated at the #1 Frerking in Section 11-1s-6w. The closest production, from several shallow Mississippian zones, is about 3.5 miles south in St. Libory Field. 2 Illinois' Franklin County is the site of a newly scheduled 3,400-ft. Mississippian St. Louis wildcat-the Geo Search #2 BCG-Illinois Minerals in Section 27-7s-3e. The Mt. Vernon, Ill., independent's venture offsets to the southwest a wildcat that was drilled to a total depth of 3,080 ft. and completed as a dry hole in 1996. A drillstem test of Mississippian Cypress at 2,549-92 ft. at the failure recovered 50 ft. of highly oil cut salt water, 454 ft. of very slightly oil cut salt water and 1,100 ft. of oil cut salt water. A year ago, at a south offset to the 3,080-ft. dry hole, Geo Search drilled to 2,660 ft. with unsuccessful results at the #1 BCG-Illinois Minerals. 3 Mississippian Warsaw at 3,200 ft. is the objective of the #2 Dietrich, a wildcat staked by Triangle Oil Co. Inc. in Marion County, Ill. Kinmundy, Ill.-based Triangle's test is in Section 2-2n-3e, about 1.5 miles northwest of the abandoned Iuka West Field. 4 Casper, Wyo., independent Morris E. Ogle is set to drill to a depth of 1,800 ft. to test Devonian and Silurian formations at the #1 Suhre, a wildcat in Section 33-6n-6w, Madison County, Ill. According to IHS Energy Group, Ogle's project is about 0.75-mile west of the southernmost wells in the 50-year-old Livingston South Field, which produces from Pennsylvanian sands at depths above 650 ft. 5 In Newaygo County, Mich., a projected depth of 7,800 ft. has been assigned to the Muskegon Development Co. #1-13 State-Priestly. The wildcat, in Section 13-13n-12w, Everett Township, is to be drilled to evaluate Ordovician Glenwood. Mt. Pleasant, Mich.-based Muskegon's new venture is six miles southwest of a 1993 Glenwood discovery that produced gas and condensate to open the now-abandoned Goodwell South Field. 6 Silurian Clinton is the formation scheduled to be tested at a deeper-pool wildcat staked by Savoy Energy LP in Montmorency County, Mich. IHS Energy Group says Traverse City, Mich., independent Savoy's new project is the #1-27 Big 8 Land Co. The well will be directionally drilled to 6,052 ft. from a surface location in Section 34-30n-4e, Rust Township, to a proposed bottomhole location in Section 27-30n-4e. The drillsite is in an area of Devonian Antrim gas production in Montmorency County-Antrim Field. 7 A Muskegon County, Mich., wildcat-the #1-10 Schilleman-is scheduled to be reentered and deepened by Wepco Energy Co. , Traverse City. The company originally drilled the test in the spring of 2000 and completed it as a 3,596-ft. dry hole. New plans call for the #1-10 Schilleman, Section 10-12n-18w, White River Township, to be deepened to about 4,800 ft. to test Ordovician Trenton. 8 Edward & Ann Kilbarger , Logan, Ohio, tapped Ordovician Queenston Shale for a pump gauge of 150 bbl. of oil per day at the #1 Hunter Unit, a deeper-pool opener in Benton Field, Hocking County, Ohio, reports IHS Energy Group. The well, in Section 31, Benton Township, South Bloomingville Quad, is producing from an openhole interval between 2,789-2,945 ft. Plans call for the 2,966-ft. discovery, which was set up as a 6,500-ft. test to Trenton, to be deepened once production from Queenston is depleted. Previously, Benton Field produced from Upper Devonian Berea and Silurian Clinton. 9 Twinsburg, Ohio-based North Coast Energy Inc. says it has drilled its third and fourth Knox discoveries in Ohio's Muskingum County. The wells are the 6,316-ft. #CR553 Consolidation Coal in Section 21, Madison Township, Prospect Field area, and the 6,175-ft. #CR555 Consolidation Coal in Section 5, Salem Township, Fairview Church Field area. Both tests are in Adamsville Quad, on North Coast's 13,000-acre Adamsville Prospect. The company encountered pay in the Knox unconformity between 6,100-6,250 ft. at the #CR553 well and 5,947-6,125 ft. at the #CR555 well. Commenting on the fourth discovery, North Coast says the #CR555 well exhibited twice the units of gas during drilling as its prior Adamsville discoveries. 10 A 6,000-ft. Knox/Cambrian Rome deeper-pool test has been staked by R.C. Poling Co. Inc. at the #6 Camp Akita in Section 18, Marion Township, Logan Quad, Hocking County, Ohio. IHS Energy Group says the Somerset, Ohio, independent's exploratory venture is in Enterprise Field, which has production from Clinton, Cambro-Ordovician Beekmantown and Cambrian Rose Run. 11 Knox and Rose Run are the objectives of the #1 Franklin Benner, a deeper-pool wildcat scheduled to be drilled by R.H. Penick , Heath, Ohio, in Ohio's Wilkins Run Field. The new venture, in Section 25, Mary Ann Township, Hanover Quad, Licking County, has a projected depth of 5,100 ft. Wilkins Run Field currently produces from Berea and Clinton. 12 New Ordovician Trenton-Black River exploration scheduled for New York's Steuben County includes tests staked by Pennsylvania General Energy Corp. , Warren, Pa.; Belden & Blake Corp. , North Canton, Ohio; and Vandermark Exploration Inc. , Scio, N.Y. Pennsylvania General's project is the 10,340-ft. #1359 Henkel in Section D of Big Flats Quad, Corning Township. Belden & Blake's #1 Huber, which has a projected depth of 7,540 ft., is in Section G of Wayland Quad, Wayland Township. Vandermark plans to drill to a depth of 10,370 ft. at its #2 NYS GMA in Section I of Campbell Quad, Erwin Township. 13 Pennsylvania's Indiana County is slated to get a new-field wildcat, staked by Kriebel Minerals Inc. at the #1 Florence Mining Co. Upper Devonian is to be tested to a depth of about 3,600 ft. at the venture, in Section G of South Bloomingville Quad, West Wheatfield Township. The Clarion, Pa., independent's venture is a little more than two miles southwest of Devonian gas producers. 14 Upper Cambrian Nolichucky Shale is scheduled to be tested at the #BG1 Seay in Hawkins County, Tenn., where Penn Virginia Oil & Gas Corp. , Duffield, Va., plans to drill to 7,200 ft.
