ONEOK Partners LP’s Midwestern Gas Transmission Pipeline is a relatively small natural gas pipeline at 366 miles, but its connections to larger systems and ability to move gas bilaterally from Chicago and the Ohio River Valley makes it a major piece of the Midwestern gas market.
The system has a total capacity of 650 million cubic feet per day and seven compressor stations. The pipeline is connected to Alliance Pipeline, Northern Border Pipeline, Tennessee Gas Pipeline, Trunkline and Texas Gas Transmission. It provides service to markets in Kentucky, Indiana, southern Illinois and Chicago. The system has no storage capacity.
According to Hart Energy Mapping & Data Services, the system’s largest transport customer is Proliance Energy LLC at 407,000 dekatherms per day (Dth/d). This is followed by Piedmont Natural Gas at 240,000 Dth/d; ConocoPhillips at 150,000 Dth/d; Northern Indiana Public Service Co. at 70,000 Dth/d; BP Canada Energy Marketing Corp. at 64,000 Dth/d; Duke Energy Indiana Inc. at 53,000 Dth/d; Tenaska Marketing Ventures at 50,000 Dth/d; Merrill Lynch Commodities at 50,000 Dth/d; and Macquarie Cook Energy at 44,000 Dth/d.
