1 Hays, Kan., independent Downing-Nelson Oil Co. completed a producer in the Arbuckle, one of two pays encountered with the wildcat, 2.5 miles east of Victoria, Kan., in southeastern Ellis County. The #1-10 Goetz, in Section 10-14s-16w, pumped 52 bbl. of oil per day, with no water, on completion in a lightly acidized openhole Arbuckle interval between 3,514-21 ft., according to IHS Energy. The well is 0.67-mile northeast of a four-well pool in Hertel Field. It produced 56,000 bbl. of oil between 3,100 and 3,400 ft. from reservoirs in the Lansing-Kansas City and Basal Pennsylvanian conglomerate. 2 Wichita, Kan.-based Red Oak Energy Inc. completed a wildcat eight miles south-southwest of Sharon Springs on the western Kansas salient of the Las Animas Arch in southwestern Wallace County. The #1-6 Popp/Smith, in Section 6-15s-40w, recovered 898 bbl. of oil during June and 1,769 bbl. in July 2005, according to figures from the state. While completion information was not released by the company at press time, production for the 5,200-ft. well averaged 57 bbl. daily during July. The producer is 4.5 miles east-northeast of the closest producer in Okeson Field. The #1-8 Okeson had an initial pumping potential of seven bbl. of 36-gravity oil daily from the Lower Morrow between 4,977-86 ft. Before being shut in it produced 146 bbl. of oil during one month of tests. It was reentered a year later and recorded a commingled calculated absolute open flow of 6.84 million cu. ft. of gas per day after perforations in the Upper Morrow were added between 4,953-74 ft. Production through July totaled 157 million cu. ft. of gas and 9,600 bbl. of condensate/oil. 3 Fayetteville, Ark.-based Washington County Oil & Gas LLC permitted two wildcats a mile apart from each other in northwestern Arkansas in the west-central portion of Washington County. The #1 Bob Bush, in Section 1-14n-33w, and the #1 Troy Osburn are slated to reach a total depth of 700 ft. in the Sylamore. The #3 W.O. King is four miles northeast of the #1 Bob Bush in High Ocean Field. It had a cumulative recovery of 18.3 million cu. ft. of gas from the Sylamore. The field yielded a total of 169.65 million cu. ft. of gas and 92 bbl. of oil through 1998 from seven wells. 4 Seeco Inc., a unit of Houston-based Southwestern Energy, has permitted another Arkoma Basin wildcat seven miles north-northwest of Damascus, Ark., in northeastern Conway County. The #1-4-H Bryant-Hall, in Section 4-9n-14w, will be drilled horizontally. Measured depth of the well is set to 7,000 ft. with a true vertical depth of 4,000 ft. From its surface location, the well is 5.5 miles north-northwest of the closest Fayetteville well on the northern flank of Cove Creek Field. The #1-35-H Payne Family Trust was initially tested flowing 2.05 million cu. ft. of gas per day from 14 perforated intervals between 5,198 and 6,740 ft. 5 Keith F. Walker Oil & Gas Co. LLC, Ardmore, Okla., recovered gas from a wildcat in the Oklahoma Panhandle completed earlier this year. The #1-35 Vocals, in Section 35-3n-7ecm in Cimarron County, some eight miles south of the town of Keyes, flowed gas at an average daily rate of 2.46 million cu. ft. The 5,106-ft. well produced 76.2 million cu. ft. of gas its first full month onstream. The company initially tested the discovery flowing 102,000 cu. ft. of gas per day on an unreported choke through perforations between 4,032-42 ft. in the Marmaton. The #1-35 Gowdy, two miles west of Sampsel Northeast Field, produced 42 million cu. ft. of gas from the Middle Morrow between 4,914-19 ft. It was onstream for two years before being abandoned in 2002. 6 Devon Energy Production Co. LP, Oklahoma City, completed a producer targeting the Mississippian Woodford in southern Hughes County, Okla., four miles southeast of Gerty. The #1-26 Edwards, in Section 26-4n-10e, was drilled to a total depth of 9,933 ft. The well flowed 1.06 million cu. ft. of gas per day through perforations in the Woodford between 7,812 and 9,331 ft. Little additional information was available. The surface of the well is three miles west-northwest of the #1-29 Poe. The well produced 28 million cu. ft. of gas in its first four months online through perforations between 7,760 and 7,878 ft. 7 Yates Petroleum Co., Artesia, N.M., completed an Atoka wildcat in Jenkins Field in northern Lea County, N.M., flowing 1.914 million cu. ft. of gas, four bbl. of condensate and eight bbl. of water daily through perforations between 11,607-64 ft. The #1 Vince "BGH," in Section 30-9s-35e, was drilled to a total depth of 12,655 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 550 psi on a 24/64-in. choke. The producer offsets a 10,025-ft. well in the same field. The #1-XO Anderson had a cumulative recovery of 11,352 bbl. of crude, 7.45 million cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 22,760 bbl. of water from the San Andres between 4,846 -56 ft., according to IHS Energy. 8 Midland, Texas, independent Parallel Petroleum Corp. staked a Wolfcamp wildcat 3.5 miles south-southwest of the town of Hagerman, N.M., in southern Chaves County. The #1 Affirmed, in Section 33-14s-26e, is set to reach a total depth of 9,300 ft. or a true vertical depth of 5,244 ft. The surface location of the well will be more than a half-mile south-southeast of the #1 Drumm Com, the Buffalo Valley West Field opener. The 6,940-ft. well recovered a cumulative 75 million cu. ft. of gas and 1,695 bbl. of condensate until 1990. 9 Range Resources Corp., Fort Worth, Texas, staked a wildcat in northern Roberts County, Texas (RRC 10). The #1222 Payne Trust, in Section 222, Block 42, H&TC Survey, A-944, will be drilled to a total depth of 10,000 ft. The well is set to target the Atoka and Upper and Middle Morrow. The nearest previous production is 1.25 miles east in Payne Ranch Field. The #2 Payne Ranch pumped eight bbl. of oil and 20 bbl. of water per day when it was completed in 1989 through perforations in the Lower Douglas between 6,228-47 ft. The 9,200-ft. well had an ultimate recovery of 3,000 bbl. of oil and 23,000 bbl. of water through 1991. 10 Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Energy Corp. completed two wildcats in eastern Wheeler County, Texas (RRC 10). The #1-23 Stiles Ranch, in Section 23, Block A-3, H&GN Survey, A-206, nearly 13 miles east-northeast of the town of Wheeler had an initial flow rate of 2.1 million cu. ft. of gas, 100 bbl. 52-gravity condensate and 359 bbl. of water per day. It produced through fracture-stimulated perforations between 12,640 and 13,585 ft. Chesapeake gauged flowing tubing pressure at 1,592 psi on a 15/64-in. choke. Total depth is 13,700 ft. The company's #2-5 Stiles Ranch is three miles southwest in Section 5, Block A-3, H&GN Survey, A-197. It had an initial flowing potential of 1.99 million cu. ft. of gas, 36 bbl. of condensate and 43 bbl. of water daily when it was completed through perforations in the Granite Wash between 12,557 and 14,011 ft. after fracture-stimulation. Total depth of the well is 14,123 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 670 psi on a 30/64-in. choke. 11 Heape Exploration Inc., Dallas, drilled a wildcat in the northwestern Grayson County, Texas, (RRC 9) portion of the Marietta-Sherman Basin about 10 miles north of Sadler. The #1 Stuckey "1-A," in the Jacob Gross Survey, A-460, is set to reach a total depth of 15,000 ft. The #1 and #2 Newsom are the closest producers at about 1.25 miles east-northeast in Big Indian Field. The unitized lease yielded 9,423 bbl. of crude and 70.24 million cu. ft. of gas since Sept. 2004, according to IHS Energy. 12 Wichita Falls, Texas-based Trio Consulting & Management LLC staked a remote wildcat in western Dickens County (RRC 8A) about 10 miles northwest of the town of Spur, Texas. The #3601 Garrett-Garcia, in Section 360, Block 1, H&GN Survey, A-741, is set to reach a total depth of 6,000 ft. The #2 Costanzo in Espuela Field, more than six miles southeast, is the nearest production. Completed a year ago, the 5,250-ft. well produced 10,492 bbl. of oil and 2.23 million cu. ft. of casinghead gas since May 2004. 13 Griffin Petroleum, Midland, Texas, will drill a central Gaines County (RRC 8A) wildcat less than a mile north of the town of Seminole, Texas. The #1 Lisa, in Section 164, Block G, WT RR Co. Survey, A-2366, is set to target oil in the San Andres. Oil production in the same formation in Seminole Field is more than a mile west. More than 350 wells in the field yielded 688,856 bbl. of crude, 701.15 million cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 5.68 million bbl. of water during July. 14 Houston-based Blackwell Operating Co. staked a second western Hamilton County, Texas, (RRC 7B) wildcat in the southeastern flank of the Bend Arch about five miles northwest of the town of Star. The #2 Cynthia Kyle Unit, in the Robert F. Howell Survey, A-398, is set to reach a total depth of 5,500 ft. The #1 W. Wuistinger et al. is 1.5 miles east-northeast in Pottsville Field. Drilled to a total depth of 2,883 ft., the Marble Falls well was tested flowing 2.5 million cu. ft. of gas daily from acidized perforations between 2,608 and 2,701 ft. No production information is available. 15 Petro-Hunt LLC, Dallas, staked a horizontal wildcat in the Delaware Basin in western Pecos County (RRC 8) about 1.25 miles southeast of the Reeves County line and 35 miles west of Fort Stockton, Texas. The #1H McCoy Remme Ranches State "27," in Section 27, Block 51, T10S, T&P Survey, A-8635, is set to bottom about 0.67-mile south-southwest underneath section 38. It is set to reach a total depth of 15,000 ft. Hershey West Field is the nearest production 4.5 miles northeast. The #1 Hershenson "11" was flowing 2.38 million cu. ft. of gas daily from the Devonian between 15,803 and 16,335 ft. when it was completed in 1979. The 16,662-ft. vertical well has given up 139.46 million cu. ft. of gas and 4,432 bbl. of water.
