1 A wildcat completed by Raymond Oil Co. Inc., Wichita, in Barber County, Kan., had an initial flow gauge of 500,000 cu. ft. of gas per day, with no fluids. IHS Energy Group reports the #1 Maddix Trust, Section 4-31s-13w, is producing through perforations at 4,334-68 ft. in the Massey member of the Pennsylvanian Marmaton Group. Elsewhere in Barber County, Garden City, Kan., independent American Warrior Inc. is waiting on completion tools after setting pipe at one wildcat on its Bear Creek lease and moving in rotary tools at a second wildcat on the lease. The #2 test, Section 23-31s-15w, originally set up as a 6,000-ft. venture to evaluate formations through Cambro-Ordovician Arbuckle, bottomed at an estimated depth of 5,600 ft. A little more than two miles north-northeast, the company is preparing to drill the #1 Bear Creek in Section 12-31s-15w, a test similar to the #2. 2 Two Meade County, Kan., discoveries have been finaled by Raydon Exploration Inc., Oklahoma City. At the #1-17 Wynona, Section 17-35s-29w, the operator pumped 36 bbl. of oil and 13 bbl. of water, with 700,000 cu. ft. of gas, per day from Pennsylvanian Morrow at 5,862-91 ft. The deeper-pool opener is 0.33-mile east of Adams Ranch Field. Meanwhile, Raydon opened McKinney North Field in Section 29-32s-27w with the completion of the #1-29 Reimer flowing 800,000 cu. ft. gas and 4 bbl. of oil per day from 5,675-80 ft. in Mississippian Upper Chester. 3 In Arkansas, a drilling program XTO Energy Inc. has under way targeting formations below Pennsylvanian zones in the Silex Field area of Pope County has yielded a new Mississippian-Devonian gas well. IHS Energy Group says the Oklahoma City firm's #1-26 Silex, Section 26-10n-21w, gave up a flow of 3.13 million cu. ft. of gas per day from 4,140-4,300 ft. in Mississippian Boon. Deeper down the hole, at 4,390-4,510 ft. and 4,540-70 ft., the well tapped Devonian Penters for a gauge of 2.66 million cu. ft. of gas per day. XTO used a 32/64-in. choke on both tests. 4 The #3 Brown "L" has been completed by Anadarko Petroleum Corp. flowing 480 bbl. of oil, 454,000 cu. ft. of gas and 10 bbl. of water per day, extending to the northwest and confirming a Lower Chester Sand producing field opened by the company last year in Beaver County, Okla. The Houston firm gauged the flow on a 16/64-in. choke after perforating at 7,024-54 ft. The company's #1 Brown "L" flowed 296 bbl. of oil and 869,000 cu. ft. of gas per day from 7,022-57 ft. to open the field. Anadarko has finaled a second extension-the #2 Brown "L" 0.33-mile south-flowing 360 bbl. of oil and 200,000 cu. ft. of gas per day on a 10/64-in. choke from 7,058-88 ft. The three wells are in Section 21-4n-21ecm. 5 IHS Energy Group notes Oklahoma has seen another confirmation completed, this one the JMA Energy Co. LLC #1 Claude Robinson in Section 30-16n-19w, Dewey County. The company, of Oklahoma City, tested 3.08 million cu. ft. of gas, 70 bbl. of condensate and 13 bbl. of water per day on a 12/64-in. choke from three Upper Pennsylvanian Lower Cleveland Sand intervals between 9,703-59 ft. The new producer is 0.5-mile south of the JMA's #1-30 Hugh Carney discovery that last year tapped Lower Cleveland for a gauge of 1.82 million cu. ft. of gas, 48 bbl. of oil and 30 bbl. of water daily. 6 In the vicinity of the town of Alex in Oklahoma's Grady County, Ward Petroleum Corp., Enid, is drilling an 18,100-ft. Arbuckle deeper-pool test in the Alex Northwest Field area and Chesapeake Operating Inc., Oklahoma City, has staked a similar test that's to be directionally drilled to a measured depth of 19,930 ft. in Chitwood Field. Drilling depth is nearing 11,300 ft. at Ward's #1-15 Gage in Section 15-5n-6w. About 3.5 miles southwest, in Section 33-5n-6w, Chesapeake is set to drill its #1-33 Olive. In the same area, Samson Resources Co., Tulsa, tested three Ordovician formations for a flow of 237 bbl. of oil, 686,000 cu. ft. of gas and 108 bbl. of water per day at the #3-29 Elmer Story, Section 29-5n-5w. The three zones, tested on a 31/64-in. choke, are Bromide between 14,920-15,005 ft., Tulip Creek between 15,160-15,240 and McLish at 15,310-30 ft. The well is at the juncture of Chitwood and Golden Trend fields. 7 Texas' Panhandle is the site of a stepout drilled by Phillips Petroleum Co. that yielded 2.5 million cu. ft. of gas, 15 bbl. of condensate and seven bbl. of water per day during preliminary tests of Lower Morrow at 5,135-42 ft. The Sherman County prospect is the #3 Trumbell in Section 246, Block 1-T, T&NO Survey, A-613. It's nearly a mile west-southwest of the discovery of Lundberg Field that was completed by Phillips in 1989. 8 A Mississippian Barnett Shale discovery made by Trio Operating Co. Inc. in Wise County, Texas, gave up a flow of 175 bbl. of oil, 1.145 million cu. ft. of gas and 89 bbl. of water per day, according to IHS Energy Group. The Wichita Falls firm's well is the #1 Kew-Peacock that was tested on an 18/64-in. choke through perforations between 8,356-8,834 ft. It's in Samuel Wood Survey, A-900, according to IHS Energy Group. 9 Location has been staked by Norman, Okla., independent AOG Inc. for a deep Ordovician wildcat in Grayson County, Texas. The #1 Perrin AFB, Section 12, University Lands (Cecil Thomas) Survey, A-305, has a target depth of 13,000 ft. The drillsite is on the west side of Grayson County Airport. It's 0.5-mile off the northern flank of Sherman Field but apparently separated from the field by a 9,759-ft. dry hole. 10 Texas' Nolan County has seen two Pennsylvanian discoveries completed recently. At the Sha-Jam Operating Corp. #1 Amanda, the initial gauge was 181 bbl. of oil, with 18,000 cu. ft. of gas, per day on pump through several perforated intervals between 3,658-3,852 ft. The well, in Section 205, Block 1A, H&TC Survey, A-135, topped Cisco at 3,602 ft. About 0.5-mile southeast, the company has made location for the #2 Amanda that is to go to 4,500 ft. Strawn at 6,052-56 ft. is the producing formation at the second discovery, the #1 Roscoe South that was finaled by Sharp Image Energy Inc. flowing 100 bbl. of oil, 325,000 cu. ft. of gas per day on a 12/64-in. choke. The well is in Section 64, Block 22, T&P Survey, A-557. Both companies are headquartered in Midland. 11 TMBR/Sharp Drilling Inc., Midland, is drilling below 16,520 ft. at the #1 Leiman, a Loving County, Texas, wildcat that has a projected depth of 22,000 ft. The drillsite is in Section 9, Block 75, PSL Survey, A-1352. IHS Energy Group says the closest production from below 20,000 ft. is from Silurian about 1.75 miles east-northeast in Linebery Field. 12 The #1 Rollinsford, a workover by Occidental Permian Ltd. in the Hale County, Texas, portion of Anton-Irish Field, has been completed as a Permian Lower Clear Fork discovery that flowed 683 bbl. of oil, 5,000 cu. ft. of gas and one bbl. of water per day. Perforations are at 6,466-98 ft. The well in Section 17, Block DT, EL&RR Survey, A-183, was originally completed late last year by Occidental as a 6,637-ft. Permian Wolfcamp oil well. 13 Midland independent Western Reserves Oil Co. Inc. is waiting on completion tools after setting pipe at 6,290 ft. at the #1 Guthrie "466," a Borden County, Texas, wildcat that was drilled to a total depth of 6,312 ft. The indicated discovery is in Section 466, Block 97, H&TC Survey, A-1014. It's about a mile west-southwest of the nearest comparable production, from 6,334-38 ft. in Wolfcamp, in Myrtle North Field. 14 New Mexico's Eddy County claims three new discoveries, one each completed by Oxy USA WTP LP, Murchison Oil & Gas Inc. and Marbob Energy Corp. Oxy's wildcat is the #1 Oxy Engelbert, Section 15-18s-25e, that was completed flowing 110 bbl. of oil and 106,000 cu. ft. of gas per day on a 10/64-in. choke from Pennsylvanian Canyon, perforated at 7,174-94 ft. Plano, Texas, independent Murchison tested 48 bbl. of oil, 48,000 cu. ft. of gas and 190 bbl. of water daily at its discovery, the #1 Big Cat State Com. Located in irregular Section 11-17s-28e, the 10,446-ft. well is producing from 7,528-40 ft. in Wolfcamp. IHS Energy Group notes Murchison has proposed the discovery be named Anderson North Field. A Pennsylvanian Atoka reservoir has been opened by Marbob at the #1 Zebra "FF," a discovery in Section 7-21s-25e. The Artesia, N.M., operator tested a flow of 552,000 cu. ft. of gas per day at the well where pipe is set at a total depth of 10,390 ft. Seven Rivers Hills East Field has been proposed by Marbob as the name for the new producing area.
