1 A three-well drilling program scheduled by John O. Farmer Inc., Russell, Kan., is set to get under way near Cooper Field in Graham County, Kan. According to IHS Energy Group, one of the new tests is a wildcat, the 3,900-ft. #1 Keuhnl Petrol in Section 15-10s-21w. The wildcat is within a mile of wells on the western flank of Cooper Field. The remaining two ventures, both delineation tests in the field, are the #1 Farrell in Section 11-10s-21w and the #1 Mentgen in Section 4-10s-21w. Primary objectives of all three tests are Pennsylvanian Lansing-Kansas City and Ordovician Arbuckle. 2 The Arkansas portion of the Arkoma Basin gained a new producer when Bowman & Cains Exploration LLC recorded a combined flow of 15.2 million cu. ft. of gas per day from two pays at the #1-18 Young in Section 18-10n-24w, Johnson County. The well flowed 12 million cu. ft. of gas per day on a 48/64-in. choke from 3,244-52 ft. in Pennsylvanian Orr Sand and 3.2 million cu. ft. per day on a 32/64-in. choke from 3,520-26 ft. in Brrentwood. The company also recovered nine bbl. of load water daily. Testing was carried out using a 16/64-in. choke. Perforations are at 4,669-76 ft. GAW is production testing a confirmation attempt at the #2-4 Marvin, a half-mile east. 4 A deeper-pool discovery made by Vintage Petroleum Inc. in Stephens County, Okla., gave up a flow of 364 bbl. of oil, 3.9 million cu. ft. of gas and six bbl. of water per day, reports IHS Energy Group. Both ventures are in a producing area known as Marlow District. 5 A drilling program being conducted by EOG Resources Inc. in the Oklahoma Panhandle has yielded a discovery that had an initial flow rate of 1.59 million cu. ft. of gas, with 12 bbl. of water, per day. The Houston firm's 28#1 Loretta, Section 28-4n-15ecm, Texas County, is producing from 6,728-41 ft. in Mississippian Chester. The well was tested on a 64/64-in. choke. 6 BP America Production Co. tapped two new pays in Red Oak-Norris Field-Ordovician Viola and Simpson-at a multiple-zone producer it completed at the #7 Ford Unit in Section 32-7n-23e, LeFlore County, Okla. The initial flow gauge was 3.9 million cu. ft. of gas per day. In addition to Viola at 12,694-12,712 ft. and undifferentiated Simpson at 12,792-12,812 ft., 12,820-30 and 12,842-62 ft., the well is producing from Pennsylvanian Red Oak at 7,647-52 ft. and 7,740-50 ft., and Spiro at 11,613-20 ft. and 11,728-31 ft. 7 A pump gauge of 107 bbl. of oil and 338 bbl. of water, with 306,000 cu. ft. of gas, per day has been credited to the #1-5 Selmat, a Mississippian Solid discovery completed by Oklahoma City-based Crawley Petroleum Corp. in Grant County, Okla. IHS Energy Group says the new-field opener, in Section 5-28n-5w, is producing from 5,042-5,200 ft. 8 Wichita Falls independent Texoma Oil Tools Inc. is set to reenter and work over a remote wildcat in Collingsworth County, in the Texas Panhandle. The venture is the #1 Martinez in Section 18, Block 21, H&GN Survey, A-735. It was originally drilled in 1995 and bottomed at 7,250 ft. Information on the original hole and objectives of the workover has not been released. 9 Flow gauge was 589 bbl. of oil and 64,000 cu. ft. of gas per day at the Bass Enterprises Production Co. #1 University "38," a discovery on the western flank of Hutex Field in Andrews County, Texas. Bass, based in Fort Worth, used a 10/64-in. choke to test the well through perforations at 12,503-12,612 ft. in Devonian. The successful exploratory test is in Section 38, Block 5, University Lands Survey. 10 Ordovician Ellenburger is the producing formation at Midland independent Bright & Co.'s #1A Foster "60" in Texas' Sterling County. The well, in Section 60, Block 18, SP RR Survey, A-1009, is a discovery that yielded a flow of 132 bbl. of oil and 106,000 cu. ft. of gas per day on a 7/64-in. choke. IHS Energy Group reports the production is coming from an openhole interval at 7,840-80 ft. at the discovery located about a mile west of Rose Creek North Field. 11 The #1 Hirt "27," an exploratory venture in Glasscock County, Texas, has been completed by EOG Resources Inc. flowing 400 bbl. of oil, 320,000 cu. ft. of gas and 48 bbl. of water per day from Permian Wolfcamp. Located in Section 27, Block 35, T4S, T&P Survey, A-349, the new producer was tested on an 18/64-in. choke through perforations between 8,288-8,365 ft. The closest wells that produced from Wolfcamp are about half a mile south in McDaniel Field. Nearly two miles northeast, EOG is drilling below 6,800 ft. at the wildcat #1 Jansa "24" in previously undrilled Section 24, Block 35, T4S, T&P Survey, A-1022.
