William J. Way, president and COO of Southwestern Energy, discussed the company's work in the Marcellus. Some of the lessons learned working there can apply to some of the company's other areas of operations, he said. Southwestern came into the Marcellus five years ago, and has cut costs by 20% and raised well productivity by 200% by studying how wells are landed and how fracks are set and loaded with sand. Southwestern is eyeing also emerging technology.
