• Kerr-McGee Corp., Oklahoma City, plans to sell its interests in Kazakhstan to Shell Kazakhstan Development in a deal valued at $165 million. The assets include a 50% interest in the Arman producing field, 100% interest in the Mertvyi Kultuk exploratory area, and 1.75% working interest in the Caspian pipeline consortium. Kerr-McGee's net daily production from the properties was approximately 2,500 bbl. of oil. • EnCana Corp., Calgary, has acquired Vintage Petroleum Inc.'s, Tulsa, Okla., subsidiary, Vintage Oil Ecuador SA, for approximately US$137.4 million in cash. Proved reserves are estimated at 50.4 million bbl. of oil. • Perenco UK Ltd. is acquiring interests in 14 gas fields in the North Sea from BP for $162 million. The assets include associated pipelines, processing facilities and a terminal at Bacton in eastern England. Production from the fields is estimated at 150 million cu. ft. of gas per day. • Houston American Energy Corp., Houston, has acquired a 12.5% working interest with an 11.25% net revenue interest in the Tambaqui Association Contract in Colombia. The concession is subject to a reversionary interest by Ecopetrol. • Australia-based Woodside Petroleum Ltd. has doubled its stake in the Blacktip gas field offshore northern Australia to 70% with the purchase of the interest held by Royal Dutch/Shell Group. It also bought Shell's stakes in two other exploration permits in the Blacktip region. Woodside's remaining partner in Blacktip is Agip, a subsidiary of Italy-based Eni SpA. • Russia's Lukoil and Norway's Norsk Hydro have joined to explore and develop in southwestern Iran. Lukoil plans to acquire 25% in the $137-million Anaran onshore exploration project. The field is estimated to contain 2.6 billion bbl. of oil reserves. • Pertamina may buy assets of Amerada Hess Corp. in Indonesia. Amerada has a 25% nonoperated interest in the Jambi Merang joint operating body on South Sumatra. Pertamina operates the block and has a 50% stake.
