• Conoco Inc., Houston, plans to sell some of its U.K. interests in the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea to OMV UK Ltd. for $28 million. The assets include stakes in the Suilven discovery in the U.K. sector of the northeast Atlantic Ocean and in Block 20/7a in the central North Sea. OMV will receive a 32.5% equity in blocks 204/14 and 204/15. Conoco is operator. • Lundin Petroleum AB, Stockholm, Sweden, plans to acquire 95.3% in Coparex International SA from BNP Paribas and affiliates for US$172.5 million in cash. Coparex has production in excess of 15,000 BOE per day from operated assets in France (Paris Basin) and in Tunisia; and nonoperated field interests in France (Aquitaine Basin) The Netherlands, Venezuela and Indonesia. Coparex has proven and probable reserves of 55 million BOE, 84% proven producing. • Nippon Mitsubishi Oil Corp., Tokyo, Japan, plans to acquire a stake in fields and related facilities in the Brae region in the North Sea from Burlington Resources Inc., Houston, for up to 20 billion yen. The assets include daily production of 8,000 BOE. • TotalFinaElf SA, Paris, plans to acquire a 52% stake in the Vankor oil field in northern Siberia from Anglo Siberian Oil Co. Plc and plans to become operator. Anglo-Siberian owns 59% of the Vankor Field. TotalFinaElf has also taken an option to acquire a 60% stake in the neighboring Vankor North Field, currently 100% owned by Anglo Siberian. Financial details weren't disclosed. The Vankor Field is estimated to hold some 900 million bbl. of recoverable oil reserves and 2 trillion cu. ft. of gas. The field is estimated to need some $2.5 billion to develop. • Orca Petroleum Inc., Calgary, plans to purchase a 12.5% interest in the Villamontes oil field in southern Bolivia for US$283,500. The operator is Matpetrol SA. • Aurado Exploration Ltd., Calgary, plans to acquire Aral Petroleum, which holds an exploration and production license for 100% of the Liman Block in western Kazakhstan. The block covers an area of 6,459 square kilometers on the north shore of the Caspian Sea.
