The Haynesville is hot once again, said Chesapeake Energy Vice President Tim Beard, opening keynote speaker of Hart Energy's DUG Haynesville conference on Feb. 21. That sentiment is backed by statistics from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, which forecasts Haynesville production to rise to about 7 Bcf/d in 2018. At the conference, RBN Energy’s David Braziel added that Louisiana’s gas production from the greater Haynesville region could grow to 8 Bcf/d in the next five years. Meanwhile, Wood Mackenzie’s Robert Clarke told the packed conference that the Caspiana core area is the most economic portion for the Haynesville play today.
Three Rivers Operating Co. is being sold, nearly a year after it was put on the market. Riverstone Holdings said this week it agreed to the sale of "100% of the assets of Three Rivers’ Delaware Basin acreage position in Culberson and Reeves counties in Texas." Riverstone said that when the transaction closes, subsidiary Riverstone Energy Ltd. will realize gross proceeds of about $205 million dollars. Riverstone did not disclose the terms of the deal or the buyer.
The U.S. is forging ahead on its oil and gas exports pledge. Since the decades-old restrictions on crude exports was lifted U.S. companies have been shipping oil and natural gas to new markets around the world. Speaking at this week’s International Petroleum Week conference in London, U.S. Deputy Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette said the U.S. is poised to become a net energy exporter within the next decade. The Energy Department’s annual outlook pinpoints 2022 as a specific target date.
